What it is that I do...

Cool formatting will have to wait... and it will get here.. but if I wait on it, nothing will ever get here...

My Family

I am extremely fortunate to have a number of varied and wonderful groups whom I consider family. With some, I happen to share random bits of DNA sequences, with others I share interests. All of them are close to me in one way (or, in some cases, several ways) or another.

Renaissance Festivals

My mom took me to my first RenFest (the MDRF) when I was about 10 (give or take, neither of us can remember for certain). In recent years, though, the interest has become a lot more to me than something to do one or two days a year... oh yeah... MUCH more...

Haven

I first met Nybor and Elsbeth around 1987 or so. I liked their teaching style then, and I still like it. They (and until a few years back, Bobbi too damn, I miss her) go out of their way to make a person feel at home. They are wonderful folks. And besides, Nybor's art is cool! Besides, it's entirely possible that I own the largest collection (or close to it) of Nybor prints outside of Keyser, WV.

Tau Delta

Founded in 1961 at Virginia Tech, these folks were my family when I was in Bleaksburg, and they still are. This is one of the most non-traditional greek organizations I have ever run across, and the only one where neither the contents of a person's wallet nor the color of their skin, nor their hometown, nor any other external element has anything to do with their ability to fit in. What's inside... their hearts and their minds and and who they are... that is what really matters. And it's the biggest reason I joined.

Two of my dearest friends in the world are my pledge brothers in Delta Phi.

Geekdom

I was a geek when that was not an attractive word to have been called. I have been a closet-geek. Later, I was a geek-in-training. But now I'm proud to be a professional geek... with the salary to match. Here are some of the things that have either got me started or kept me going:

Fandom

I'm working on it... I'll have info here eventually, but I'll start by saying that I went to my first con in 1983 and have worked on staff at close to 20 in the intervening years.)
